Unconscious Bias Training with Talawa,
Stage Sight is working with Talawa to organise unconscious bias training for Stage Sight members, and member organisations.
“Our training is delivered in 3 stages, with plenty of practical activities and experiential learning which involves active participation and dialogue
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions these sessions are delivered virtually to make them safe, or in person when social distancing is eased and safe.
We can work with you around the logistics of delivering these three stages and ensuring, where possible, the content is bespoke to the needs of your organisation.”
1. Unpacking Unconscious Bias.
An introductory session: a structured exploration and conversation on the theme of unconscious bias and cultural diversity.
2. Language and Behaviours of Unconscious bias
A more focused look at Diversity and Race, and the languages and behaviours, which may cause discomfort to others. With a focus on critical thinking & learning – Recognising intentional or unintentional racial indignities.
We provide an alternative stage 2 for staff who self-identify as Black, Asian or ethnically diverse: which provides strategies for dealing with racial biases and tools to feel confident in challenging any racial indignities.
2. Solutions focused training.
Identifying the barriers that prohibit an inclusive workplace, and the tools that are available or needed to remove these, both as individuals and as an institution.
The sessions run at 2.15 – 2.5hrs, each session is for a maximum of 15 participants, to allow space for conversations to happen as fully as possible. All our facilitators are experienced Black and ethnically diverse educators, theatre practitioners and facilitators.”
In order to start to plan this, it would be great to get an idea of the number of people who may be interested. The course will take place on zoom over 3 x 2.5 hour sessions, and is likely to take place in April. Please could you email email@example.com if you would be interested in taking part.
Stage Sight are investigating ways to subsidise some or all of the cost of taking part.
