Simone is a theatre-maker and mezzo-soprano. She has been commissioned to write or direct innovative works of music theatre for organisations including English National Opera, Immersive|LDN, Royal Opera House, Soho Theatre and Visualise. As a performer, recent highlights include roles in productions with Bryony Kimmings, Dutch National Opera, English National Opera, and Summerhall; covers or workshops with Dirty Protest Theatre, Loud Crowd, Royal Opera House and Theater an der Wien; and as a backing vocalist on Benjamin Clementine’s Wandering Tour.
She is joint artistic director of Hera, celebrating and sharing music and stories by women and gender minoritised artists. Hera has made five-star “astonishing” (The i) anti-ableist electronic opera starring Victoria Oruwari, feminist gig theatre starring Linda Hirst, workshopped a new musical starring Maria Friedman, and run educational programmes around the amazing, hidden women of classical music, and more.
Simone is a published playwright, BBC Radio 3 Next Generation Voice, Junior Fellow of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, member of English National Opera’s Extra Chorus, and Women of the Future Awards winner.
She is also a diversity and inclusion practitioner working with organisations including Arts Council England, English National Opera, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
