Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama

We have recently validated our Foundation Course in Scenic Construction https://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/study/courses/foundation-degree-scenic-construction which has been developed in response to the acute shortage of suitably qualified entry-level technicians to work in the rapidly expanding stage and screen industries in Wales and beyond.
We run Young People’s Production Arts https://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/study/children-young-people-and-community/young-peoples-production-arts which offers opportunities to explore technical theatre, stage management and design, for young people aged 11-18 in monthly sessions and a week long summer school. Children are encouraged to attend from across Wales and from all backgrounds with bursaries are available for students from lower income backgrounds. We also have students taking part in ‘It’s My Shout’ http://www.itsmyshout.co.uk a training scheme, based in Wales, providing training for all ages interested in gaining experience in film. We want to build on this to create pathways into some of our venues and technical roles. We are developing ideas for new courses in production electrics/ video/ film and television.
