Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres
The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse theatres are an artistic force with long-standing national significance and an international reputation. Our two buildings are united by our passion for our art-form, our love of our Liverpool City Region and its people, our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and our belief that theatre can transform lives.
Our theatres strive to listen to and reflect the lives, aspirations and experiences of our audiences; to entertain, challenge and inspire them, welcome and connect with them, nurture the artists within them and take Liverpool’s stories to the world. Wherever these connections happen – whether in our theatres, in our communities, in schools, or outside our region – we hope to ignite the imagination, celebrate humanity, better serve our communities and always to exceed expectation.
Across our two iconic theatres (one a state-of-the- art 440-seat thrust, the other a Grade II* listed 670-seat proscenium) we carry on a long tradition of producing and presenting the richest range of work for the widest audience. The Playhouse is a unique historic gem which has been entertaining audiences since 1866. The RIBA Stirling Prize winning Everyman has been renowned for its innovation and new writing since 1964.
Our award-winning youth theatre, Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP), has been an exemplar in talent development over the past decade. YEP exemplifies our commitment to working with young people to help them to achieve their potential in theatre and beyond, with many alumni going on to have distinguished careers in the sector.
We have joined Stage Sight to help us ensure that the organisation and its work reflects, involves and is accessible to the diverse community it serves. Respect, equality of opportunity and fairness are central to the way in which Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse theatres conducts its business, both internally and externally.
