Make a Commitment

To be part of Stage Sight, your organisation makes a commitment to actively pursue initiatives which help to create an off stage workforce that is reflective of our society.

When you join Stage Sight, we ask you to confirm that you agree to our three essential commitments:

Be open to enquiries

Appoint a single and named point of contact on your organisation’s website for individuals to use if they have recruitment requests or enquiries.

Share your learning

Contribute case studies: explain what your initiative was, how you delivered it, why you ran it, and what you learned. Share good practice and challenges faced with your Stage Sight peers.

Fair pay

Ensure that your rates of pay and other terms (e.g. travel costs and expenses) are commensurate with the minimums set out in the corresponding agreements of SOLT, UK Theatre and ITC with the respective entertainment unions.

The Stage Sight initiatives directory lists the projects our members are undertaking to achieve better representation in our off stage workforce.

Initiatives fall into three areas:

Recruitment: Changing recruitment practices to become more open and inclusive

Reaching out: Raising awareness of and improving the visibility of off stage roles to the public

New pathways: Developing new learning and training experiences

When you join Stage Sight we will ask you to tell us what initiatives you are commiting to in at least one of these areas. This could be anything from delivering an apprenticeship to running backstage tours; it’s entirely up to you. Take a look at what our members are doing for inspiration.

Individuals are asked to indicate how they would like to support Stage Sight, but no formal commitments are required.
